Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Statistical return of troop strengths for 1 June 1780, 1 August 1780, 1 September 1780, and 15 November 1780. Breaks down totals for troops in South Carolina, Georgia, and East Florida. Also provides numbers for each rank in those three states. The 15 November 1780 totals are for Major General Alexander Leslie's Corps. During the time covered in this report, Cornwallis won the Camden Campaign and lost the Battle of King's Mountain, both in South Carolina.
