Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by Edward H. Robbins (Speaker), David Cobb (President), and John Avery. Noted as a true copy. A resolve from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the House of Representatives regarding the petitioners in Hampden, Maine. The Legislature assigned Park Holland to be responsible for gathering the applications and hearing claims from the settlers.
