Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Bans night shooting of water fowl, as well as the use of floats, boats, and canoes in hunting them. Removed from "Acts and laws, passed by the Great and General Court or Assembly of His Majesty's province of the Massachusetts-Bay in New-England, : begun and held at Boston, upon Wednesday the thirty-first day of May, 1727. And continued by adjournment to the sixteenth day of August following." Printed by B. Green, printer to His Honour the lieut. governour & Council, for Benjamin Eliot., 1727.
