Writes to request more information about the money for the monument to Dr. Lathrop. Asks where the money is deposited and what sort of monument the donors of the money had in mind.

Norwich Town Nov. 1. 1862 Capt. C. M. Coit, My Dear sir, Mrs. La- throp called upon me this week to inquire re specting a movement which she had been told was in progress to raise funds to procure a mon- ument for her hus band the late Dr. Lathrop. Your sister on whom I called today thinks you have deposited some- thing, & that you inti mate that you had not done making collections. Please in- form me how the matter stands, and if your collections are finished how the donors would have the funds expended This I write not by re quest of Mrs. Lathrop, but at my own suggestion. If a monument is to be erected this fall, no time should be lost. Very Truly Yours E. P. Arms Answerd Nov 24 1862 draft for $307 sent.
