General Rochambeau transmits a copy of a letter (not included) he wrote to the Marquis de Choisy (possibly Claude Gabriel Marquis de Choisy). States that the letter discussed Choisy's confusion regarding differentiation between freedmen and slaves serving in the army. Informs Henry that Choisy caused "all the negroes who were with the Legion ... to be taken up indiscriminately."
Henry served as Governor of Virginia 1776-1779 and 1784-1786. Rochambeau, from France, served notably in the American Revolution. Choisy was a Brigadier General under Rochambeau's command.
