Contains a list of NAACP officers for 1923, including President Moorfield Storey. Foreword states that the NAACP "has continued to carry out one of its most vital purposes, that of keeping intensely alive among the colored people of America the sense of racial vigilance and the conviction thar their future depends upon a realization of what the race is justly entitled to and a determination to secure it." Includes reports on the Dyer anti-lynching bill, legal defense related to lynching, a lynching record for 1922, a report on race riots (citing the Ernest Thomas case), reports on discrimination pertaining to ship stewards and the Customs Service, reports on the Ku Klux Klan, and a discussion of the film The Birth of a Nation, among other topics. Closes with a report on finances.
