Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The bill lists the charges for Johnston's education for the session commencing 4 January and ending 30 March 1833. Charges include tuition, room-rent, use of college library, servants' hire, printing, etc. The document also gives Johnston's scores for attendance, conduct, and performance in the courses Tacitus, Geometry, and Theology. The remainder of the document states the college's offical course of studies, standard payments, and the rules and regulations.
