Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Contains several letters written one after the other.
The first letter, on page 1, was from Mauger to Joseph Gerrish, dated 25 August 1760. The location it was written in is not included.
The second letter, which spanned from page 1 to page 2, was from Joshua Mauger to Peter Mauger, dated 25 August 1760 and written in Plymouth.
The third letter, which spanned from page 2 to page 3, was from Joshua Mauger to Peter Mauger, dated 22 November 1760 and written in Plymouth.
The fourth letter, which spanned from page 3 to page 4, was from Mauger to John Butler, dated 22 November 1760 and written in Plymouth.
