A collection of letters sent to the mayor, wardens, and burgesses of Kingston upon Hull. Letters related to American Revolution, called a "very alarming state of national affairs." Accuses great Britain of tyranical rule, urges recognition of American independance. John Almon- Kearseley-Dilly-Crutwell-Mullet imprint. Signed by Hartley on p. ii, and at the end of each letter, p. 32, 51, 68, and 92.
David Hartley sat in Parliament, opposed to the war in America, and was sent in 1783 to negotiate a peace treary with the Americans.
