Belonged to Joshua Pico, a liquor merchant from Boston. Wooden chest with two handles, metal edges, and a lock on the lid. The key is missing so the lock is stuffed with paper to prevent locking. Interior has separated compartments for six large glass liquor bottles with glass toppers, six smaller bottles with glass toppers, and a removable section with two tumblers, two small liquor glasses, and a shot glass. All glass items are decorated with a gold floral pattern. Pico's license to sell liquor in Boston is pasted to the bottom of the removable compartment. It is dated 21 December 1784 and allows him to sell "rum and other distilled spirits, or any of said liquors, with the County of Suffolk, until 21 December 1785." The license is signed by the Collector of Excise for Suffolk County. See GLC 1450.725 for the receipt book of Joshua Pico.
