Grey-blue paper boards, 12 mo. A delicate and tiny 5 page long record, fully entitled: "A short jornal [sic] of the Transactions of Capt. Agustus Stanton's Company. and their Marchings and Camping in the Service of this Colony." Includes specifics of daily life for the troops and their comings and goings. One highlight includes a description of skirmishing on the Pactuck River in April. 4 pages at the back list books.
The journal was acquired later on by Thomas Noyes, whose handwritten note on the front pastedown (writen in a different hand than that of the journal writer) reads: "Tho.[mas] Noyes was appointed March 8th, 1782 by the Town of Westerly to enlist soldiers to fill this Town of Continental Soldiers." Later, he helped disburse federal pensions to veterans. Noyes apparently acquired this manuscript either as recruiter or later as proof of service.
