Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The Testimony of the people called Quakers, given forth by a meeting of the representatives of said people, in Pennsylvania and New-Jersey.

Communicates Quaker opposition to public resolutions created by the colonies against the legislature of Great Britain. Promotes lawful action to address the colonies' dissatisfaction without violence. "Signed in, and on behalf of the said meeting, James Pemberton, Clerk at this time." Evans 14052.
