SIDNEY DIAMOND was born in 1922. He was a student at City College, New York City, when Pearl Harbor was bombed, and felt it was his duty to enlist. Diamond became a first lieutenant, fought on several islands in the Pacific, and was killed at Luzon. He won a Silver Star posthumously for his "courage, skill, and determination" in the fighting at Luzon. He wrote almost every day to his sweetheart, Estelle Spero.
