One broadside entitled, "Colored Voters Read," dated 1894 printed by Georgia's Democratic Party. Asks the question, "What Evidence have the Negroes of this State that Schools will be provided for their Children in case the Third Party gets into Power?" Details and compares taxes paid toward school funds between black and white people. Concludes that "...in the matter of schools alone the negro received more than three times as much money, as he pays in to the Public Treasurer from all sources."

During the 1894 midterm elections Democrats and the Populist Party contested for the black vote. The Populist Party made attempts to "court" the vote by inviting African Americans from local committees to their convention and to uplift convict leasing.
