Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

List of men, either by name, position, or both, who are entitled to horses from the government, and the number of horses to which each is entitled. Also lists the district the men are from, and the number of men that fill different posts. Prepared by the office of the Quarter Master General, Nathanael Greene, for the budget of 1780.
