Copy of a receipt that states Greene has received payment from John Pierce. This copy was made by Benjamin Mifflin from "the original on file in the Office of the Accountant of the War Department." Mifflin signs as a clerk. Greene's signature appears, though it is unlikely it is actually in his hand.

John Pierce was the Paymaster General of the Continental Army.
