The three companies were led by Fry, John Hazzelton, and Josiah Cowers, all in the regiment of foot under Colonel Samuel Willard, and "part of the Forces now raising for reinforcing the Expedition against Crown Point." These forces joined Major General William Johnson's 1755 unsuccessful attempt to take Crown Point.
