Countersigned by Jacob Welsh. Partly printed document, "Obligation. No. 289," deeds a lot of land in the future city of Washington to John Dewhurst. The exact location of the lot will be determined after the city's design is laid upon the land known as "Jamaica Farm," formerly owned by Philip R. Fendall, and currently owned half by the government of the United States and half by Samuel Blodget.
