Thoreau thanks him for sending a book of poetry, "The Autumn Sheaf." States that Mr. Emerson [Ralph Waldo] left it with her a week ago. Informs that she has been busy with housekeeping duties and is going to make a trip to Bangor for her health. She writes, "I sympathize with Walton's idea of migrating & as soon as my wings grow I shall be off." The letter is only dated May 9.
