Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses the refusal by some Delaware Indians to relocate to Kansas and the entries from all to have Campbell removed as their Indian agent because of his irritable temper. Also discusses issues relating to Kickapoo annuities. Docketed by Graham, who indicates that this is a "Copy of a letter to Campbell enclosed t[o] Genl. Clark."
