Marked "Plate 27." Group of five images. Upper left is titled "A Hot Day," and depicts soldiers grouped about a gun in position, and sleeping under a shelter. Upper right is titled "Beef Steak Rare," and shows a grizzled soldier in camp holding a frying pan with a long handle over a fire, Bottom left image is titled "A Straggler," depicting a soldier with his knapsack hanging from his rifle -- table of contents says he is "Always sick when a fight is expected." Lower middle images is titled "A Quiet Nibble on the Cavalry Skirmish Lines," and shows a cavalryman smoking a pipe and looking into the distance while his horse eats grass. Lower left image is titled "A Cavalry Orderly Waiting Orders," and shows a soldier holding the reins of his horse. Actual size of the image without the margins is 27.7 x 40.3 cm.
