Informs Knox of the movement of a group of boats from West Point headed for Newburgh, New York, that stopped in New Windsor along the way. Also writes to Knox about the weather in regards to a departure time and exposing the men to the heat.

Newburgh, June 18. 1783.

Dr Sir,
The weather is now So warm, the hours set for the going of the packet boats appear improper; for the men are exposed to the Severest heat of the day. Eight in the morning seems quite late enough - and half after Five early enough in the afternoon - for their times of departure.
Yesterday the West Point packet Stopped at New Windsor half an hour, before it proceeded for Newburgh - The Coxswain Said Such were his orders. This is extremely inconvenient to gentlemen destined to Newburgh; and attended with no advantage to others.
I Shall be glad to hear from you you on these points, that we may agree on another arrangement.
I am your most obedt Servt
