Discusses the Marquis' acceptance as a member of the Society of the Cincinnati. Also reports that he has transmitted the news to the Count D'Estaing, already a senior officer in the Society.

Sir
I have the honor to transmit to yr Excellency a resolve of the General Meetg of the Cincinnati expressive of their high sense of your [strikeout] militry [sic] merit, and also their wishes to associate you as one of their numbers -
I have also transmitted the said resolve to his Excellcy the Count D [Estaing] senior officer of the Cincinnati, with a request that he would make known to you, your admission in the way that he should conceive most proper - [2]
