Written in "Bloomingdale," possibly referring to a district of New York City in the Upper West Side. Jones writes, "His Excellency, the Late Commander in Chief (Whom I now presume may be Saluted President Elect of the New Federal Constitution)... has in Consequence of his Late Command of the Army, Received many presentations, applications & c. Therefore His Excellencies Representative at the Evacuation of New York by the British in 83... May Expect something more than Official Matters."
