Christiana Swan is happy to receive a letter from young Lucy Knox, whom she had not heard from in some time. Christiana philosophies about live and contemplation. She tells Lucy stories of balls and parties she attends. Christiana cannot seem to capture love, however: The favorite of to day is replaced by the favorite of to morrrow."
