Writes to inform Waldo of the death of his father the previous December. Discusses the business his father had with Waldo's father, Brigadier General Samuel Waldo, who is also deceased. Asks Waldo to prolong the term of Palairet's land grant, which is expiring. Adds that his family has found itself in difficult financial circumstances following the death of Palairet's father.
