To [Lass Noble?], an adjutant general. Written from camp near Vicksburg. Reports that when Major Wilson and Dr. Thompson recently visited his camp, he recommended Sergeant Major William E. Jenner for 1st Lieutenant of Co. K. Withdraws this recommendation, and instead recommends Sergeant John Garot, (possibly John Garrett) for the same position. Writes, "...although Jenner is more competent for the position than Garot we have concluded to let Garot have it- He is a good soldier and will make a respectable officer..." Notes that William Howard has been recommended for the position of 2nd Lieutenant, Company D.
