Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Written by Lee as a member of Virginia's General Assembly. Says if he sells his Frederick lands, he might be able to buy Theodorick's lands in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is uncertain though. Want to know the terms of any deal. Says the warrants should be located in Berkley or Hampshire. Stamped postmark says "Richm" Nov. 7"
