Writes as Brigadier General commanding the Confederate military prisons to Major General Samuel Jones as commander of the District of Florida regarding exchanging his brother, F.M. Imboden for a Union soldier, Captain Wilson French of the 17th Connecticut Volunteers. Informs Jones that his brother is confined at Johnson's Island and gives an account of his quest to have him exchanged for French. Denies that French should not be exchanged because he knows the country and is considered a dangerous man. Exerts his influence to gain his brother's freedom and threatens to go to higher authorities if denied. "To save my brother from unmerited suffering that will probably be inflicted in retaliation for these unwarranted proceedings towards Capt. French, as well as to keep public faith with the latter I shall feel it my duty to lay the case before the Hon. Sec. of War for redress if it is denied to me upon this application to you ... " Addressed from Headquarters Confederate Military Prison, West of the Savannah River. Written on blue paper.
