Recruitment broadside, printed by woodblock, dated from Head Quarters, Jefferson, Ohio by Brigadier General Cadwell as a member of the 3rd Brigade, 9th Division of the Ohio Volunteer Militia. Says the President and the Governor of Ohio are calling the men of Ashtabula County for military service. Says "Men Wanted Now! Maryland has seceded and Washington in danger! Let Ashtabula County meet en masse at Jefferson, Thursday, Apr. 25 At 10 o'clock, A.M.To consider the matter and Form Companies." Says anti-slavery U.S. Congressman Benjamin F. Wade will address the meeting. Says instructions for forming companies will be given. Was previously folded into quarters and is repaired on verso.
