Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Vielie writes that a shipment of hay has just arrived, and desires to know if Robert, Jr. intends to purchase a portion of it. With ANS on p.2 by Robert Livingston, Jr., in which he states that he directed Vielie to purchase a portion of the hay for the Manor. Docketed on address leaf.
