Collection of Frank C. Stout (full name Benjamin Franklin Christian Stout) of the 129th Pennsylvania Volunteers, a nine month regiment. Collection includes two diaries, both of which are signed and primarily written in pencil. The first diary is approximately 140 pages and covers August-December 1862. The second diary is approximately 193 pages and covers December 1862-May 1863. Housed with the second diary is an unused postage stamp. Collection also contains miscellaneous documents, including a baptism record and medical information; a pamphlet relating an address delivered in 1897 by a Colonel Henry Royer; a photograph of the 34th Militia; and news clippings, including an obituary of Major Alexander Selfridge. A photograph accompanying the diaries is included as well [.11]
