Bope writes to his father mentioning that Union General William Rosencrans has taken over his division. Informs him of their march to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and the skirmishes along the way. Mentions that a member of Company "D" accidentally shot himself in the foot. Complains he cannot get boots large enough and goes barefoot much of the time. Asks him to send a pair along with apple butter and butter. Envelope has image of Union flag.
