Addresses letter "Dear Friend," and asks forgiveness for his delay in writing. Informs he "...got a representative in the army to carry a musket in my place..." Says the township still needs twelve men for the draft and "...they are generally offering about four-hundred dollars local bounty for one year." Comments the papers are filled with peace rumors, but he is not optimistic.
