Reports that they still have not been paid, and that he was vaccinated yesterday for smallpox. Tells her that Mr. Mason Parker was there for a visit and he sent home a new rubber blanket and that he "wants you to get it and use it in wet weather and keep it to remember me by if I should never return..." Also asks her to "take good care of your self and children til I come home and not expose your self at the ful of the moon..." Concludes the letter by telling her that she needn't send more food as he wants to lighten his load and can get by with what he has. Letter is addressed to Masonville in Delaware County, New York. Possibly written from Washington, D.C, however postmark is partially obscured.
