Asks his English agent to obtain works by the English authors George Bernard Shaw, Marie Corelli, G. K. Chesterton, and Elinor Glyn for publication in Hearst magazines. Mentions in particular, Chesterton's article, "Divorce," but advises that 100 pounds is too much to pay for it. States that 60 pounds ($300), their regular rate should be sufficient. Suggests that Glyn can write for "Good Housekeeping," and mentions two other magazines that might suit her writing. Wants Maxwell to establish relations with these four authors so Heart can get not only their articles, but their novels as well for publication in America. With unsigned note in ink on first page, "The stains are part of the Atlantic Ocean that seeped through the bottom of a trunk in the ship's hold." Typed on stationery of the New York American.
