A print of a photograph of Fort Morgan, AL. Orange 5 cent "playing card" stamp, canceled" "M&O" on verso. Pencil inscriptions: "89" and "McKirby" near Kean Archives stamp on verso. The most powerful of defenses protecting Mobile Bay was Fort Morgan, which was bombarded by Farragut's fleet, and later taken by Union forces in 1864. The walls in the distance show the damage inflicted during the battle. Badly battered, barely standing light house is in the center of image. A row of Union soldiers and sailors stand to the left of the lighthouse. The image is "No. 9" in a series of 9 photographs taken.
