Storrs declines Tyler's invitation to seek the pastorate of a church in Portland. He says he must serve a few more years at the American Home Mission Society and then return to his congregation at Braintree. He encourages Tyler to leave his congregation and to take up the leadership position available to him because of an ecclesiastical dispute.
