Dickson, who served as a Union Major during the Civil War writes to his grandfather (possibly Eugene Levassor) in Covington, Kentucky. Describes a recent sailing expedition, and informs Levassor that General Davis Tillson is visiting Savannah. Discusses the activities of mutual acquaintances and expresses his intention to visit the Cincinnati, Ohio area. States that his father and brother are engaged in the business of planting an unspecified crop.
