The S.S. and Colportage Board of the South Carolina State Convention published a statement of operations, announced by a letter titled "To the Baptist Churches and Congregations in S.C." An article titled "On Foreign Missions" includes brief reports of foreign missionaries around the world. "Woman Without Religion" deplores the dangerous conditions of a woman without religion while "Praying for Soldiers" encourages readers to pray for Confederate soldiers. A few short articles on page 3 discuss war news, including "Winter Work in Camp" and "The Army in North Georgia." "Notes on the Times" continues updates on Fort Sumter and reports on the death of Liutenant Governor Weston, amongst other items.
