Published by Sage and Brother Publishers. Includes an inscription from W. H. Samson in memory of Arthur Leutchford, dated December 1907. Contains Mrs. Arthur Leutchford's card with an address. Also includes an extract of a letter from George S. Conover to Samson citing editorial corrections. The author of this note is unknown. A note is inserted dated 18 August 1849 from Sage & Brother Publishing instructing A. W. Rood, a lawyer, to pay Lewis Style a sum of money. Includes a printed page from the law office of William C. Bryant, containing the signature of General Ely Parker. Following the preface, a letter written in Washington, D.C. from the author is inserted, dated 10 March 1857, bidding a recipient named Charles farewell. Contains a map of the Iroquois using their geographic titles. Describes the language, costumes, traditions, and religion of the Iroquois, with many hand-colored plates.
