Writes that his regiment has been selected for a term of duty lasting three months, unless they get an earlier discharge. Says his regiment was digging trenches "all last night," while ammunition was being distributed to the soldiers. Notes he is unaware of their destination or their plan, but he is hoping for the best. He closes the letter by giving his love and stating that he will be sending the letter via his friend, W. Jenk.
