Atop the metal tin, which held the biscuit, is a descriptive tag: "Brought From the Rebel Prison at Andersonville, Ga. by William Hersey of the 35th Regiment M.V.M. [Massachusetts Volunteer Militia] March 1865. Presented by G. N. Patten March 21 - 1865." The tin is 7 cm in diameter and 3 cm high. The biscuit is approximately 6.2 x 2.3 cm.
