Letter to Ord discussing his post-war [Reconstruction] duties, the size and deployment of the post-war army: "Grant is fully aware of the tendencies of Bureaucracy and will on his own quiet way work at the Solution. I think Congress will leave to him to say how many men he needs to compose the Regular army..." "Headquarters Military Division of the Missouri " letterhead.
