One engraving entitled, "Battle of Long Island" circa 1861-1877. Depicts the Continental Army retreating towards Cowanus Creek after combat with highly skilled British forces. Caption notes, "retreat of the Americans under General Stirling across Gowanus Creek." Engraved after a paiting by Alonzo Chappel. Engraver unknown.
