Dedrick is writing to inform Senator Bruce that Senator Alcorn has demanded his resignation form his position as secretary of the State of Mississippi. He is asking Senator Bruce for his opinion on the matter. He says that if the Senator believes this to be the right action he will come to Washington and offer Bruce his resignation.
