Richard C. Augsberger was born on October 29, 1923 in Middletown, Ohio. He completed at least 8th grade by the age of 16. After enlisting on January 13, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Augsberger served in the Army as a Warrant Officer for the duration of the war. He was deployed in Europe, and traveled through England, France, and Belgium. After the war, he worked as a traffic, shipping, and receiving clerk. On June 27, 1947 he married Ardena Mae Fouts in Wayne, Michigan. Augsberger died on June 5, 1997 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 73.
