Time 9:30. Augsberger tells Ardena that he has been working very hard and wants to tell her about the place he is in but he can't. He asks that she have patience and promises to tell her everything when he returns. He also tells her she can send all the pictures she wants of herself, and specifically asks for a picture of her in a bathing suit. Toward the end of the letter, he tells her something that he asks her to keep private: "Darling this is for you to know and no one else. I soon will be of age to do as I please. So when I come home we can get married without no body's permission." He sends his love and kisses in his sign-off.

- The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
