Conner writes to Nueal that Jonas received a "good conduct medal." He says that he is very proud of Jonas for "he sure is a nice boy." He tells Nueal that he is does not care that he didn't receive a medal. All he wants is "to get this over and come home. That what I want is peace, not war." Conner says that Jonas has gone on a 7 day Furlough, and asked Herbert to come with him. Conner writes that he didn't go because he "didn't care any thing about it" and costs about 60 dollars, which he doesn't have. He laments about the hot weather, and the fact that it is supposed to get hotter. Conner tells Nueal that they will celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow and eat turkey, so he will be working in the kitchens. They will also have ice cream tomorrow, which they will very much enjoy "as it is so darn hot Ha! Ha!" He sends his love and closes the letter.
