One letter from Leonard Eugene Graeff to Susan Prowell Graeff and Raymond James Graeff dated January 16, 1944. Leonard reports that he just received a letter from Malinda updating him on their health and what's going on at home. He is sorry to hear that it is taking so long for Susan to feel better but is sure it will happen she just has to hold on. Malinda sent a clipping of Martha Kukuk's engagement announcement and he is glad to hear about what is happening at home. He believes that the fellow she is engaged to has been dating her for some time so it's good to hear. Leonard inquires about Raymonds job, as well as some income tax paper he recieve at home. He complains about guard duty on the weekend. His section is smaller than all the others so when the section gets guard duty his section has more shifts than any other section. He included in the letter two clippings from the Great Lakes Bulletin. One is Ross auditorium where he has church on Sundays. The other is a ship that they have been building since he started school. The building behind the boat is where he has mechanical drawing class. Leonard is amazed how fast time flies as he has already been in service school for seven weeks.
